Our Instructors

Emily

Emily began her yoga and Pilates training in 2002 and she has been teaching in gyms and studios across the country since 2004.  When asked why she loves Pilates and yoga, she will tell you, “Pilates changed my body and yoga changed my life!” Emily is a 200 hr RYT and has completed professional trainings and certifications through The University of New Mexico, Balance Yoga Therapy, The American Council on Exercise (ACE), The National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT), The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and YogaFit. Emily loves working as an instructor and she is passionate about inspiring her students to love their bodies and themselves.

At PureFit, each of our instructors have many years of teaching experience and multiple trainings under their belts.  They are passionate about what they practice and they love sharing the joy of  Yoga and Pilates with their students.

Kelly

Kelly completed yoga teacher training at Namaste in Farmington in 2001 with Veronica Zador, and has been teaching in the community ever since. She has taught many different kinds of yoga classes from beginner through advanced and she especially loves working with new students as they begin their yoga journey. Kelly does not just teach any one style. Rather, she allows the students to influence the intensity and pace of the class based on their abilities and energy. She loves yoga not only for the positive impact it has on her demeanor and physical body, but for the meaningful connections she has made with people through her classes.  Kelly's positive and calm spirit sets the tone for a beautiful class experience and her students  leave feeling a deep sense of peace.

Sheri

Sheri began practicing yoga as a form of exercise without awareness of all the gifts yoga had to offer. Over the years, her practice deepened through meditation and the inspiration of many amazing yogis, including Todd Norian, Sarah Powers, Jason Crandell, Ronda Pretzlaff-Diegel, Linda Makowski and Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Sheri became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200), guiding her students through hatha, energetic flow, vinyasa and better backs classes to heal and strengthen the body and open the heart. Additional certification in Yin Yoga brings the opportunity to share this challenging, yet nurturing style of yoga. On her yoga journey, Sheri hopes to share her passion for this ancient practice and offer students the opportunity to blossom and grow, to experience and appreciate the present moment, to find comfort and steadiness in their poses, to breathe and to let be.

Carrie

Carrie’s Pilates journey began over ten years ago, when she was searching for a new method of exercise incorporating health to both mind and body. She found exactly what she was looking for in Pilates. Since then, Carrie has practiced and taught Pilates following the method Joseph Pilates called “Contrology”. Carrie is certified in Core Dynamics Pilates to teach beginner through the advanced level Pilates. Her philosophy is the belief that anyone can gain full benefits from Pilates despite fitness level, age, or limited mobility. Carrie teaches with passion, patience, and excitement in all of her classes. Before coming to PureFit, Carrie taught mat Pilates, equipment classes and private sessions at Pilates Plus Studio of Schaumburg, Illinois for 7 years and at Prairie Stone Sports and Wellness Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois for 5 years.  Carrie is currently accepting new students for private and semi-private sessions.

Patricia

Patricia is a KYT 200 yoga instructor—with yoga certifications in Mindful Yoga Therapy (PTSD), and pre-natal yoga and training in Therapeutic Yoga at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.  She began her yoga journey in 1985 by attending her

first class in East Lansing, MI.  She is a warm and knowledgeable instructor whose mission is to assist students in connecting with the most powerful aspects of themselves.

Kimberly

Kimberly became serious about Yoga after having her second child over 17 years ago, when she recognized the innumerable physical, psychological and emotional benefits of the practice.  After she had her third child (who is almost a teenager!), she decided to get certified in order to be able to share this discipline with others.  She completed her 200 hour RYT through LifePower Yoga and then served as a graduate assistant for a second RYT 200 in order to strengthen her teaching skills.  Kimberly’s passion is to teach classes that are accessible for everybody and everyBODY, while often peppering her flows with humor to encourage her students to truly enjoy the entire experience of a class. Most recently, she completed a third RYT 200 course in Therapeutic Yoga, which she individualizes for clients who are recovering from injury or trauma, are managing a chronic condition, or who simply want to practice a personalized form of yoga optimized for their bodies and the ‘issues in their tissues.’
